MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE ACCORDING TO DR. VODDER
Manual lymphatic drainage is a therapeutic method developed by Emil Vodder in the 1930s. The technique is based on gentle, semicircular, pumping movements that stimulate the flow of lymph. Hippocrates was the first to write about the existence of veins that carry »white blood«, and later Aristotle. The method, which is based on the purifying effects of the lymphatic system, was developed in the 1930s by Dr. Emil Vodder and his wife Estrid. Manual lymphatic drainage according to Vodder is a therapeutic technique for stimulating the lymphatic vascular system, with which We accelerate the removal of waste products and fluid from parts of the body where it stagnates. It is an extremely gentle, pleasant and relaxing technique.
It is used:
- in the treatment of primary and secondary lymphedema
- after surgical procedures (e.g. lymphedema of the upper limb after breast surgery, lymphedema of the lower limb after gynecological surgery)
- edema after injuries, sprains, burns, Sudek's dystrophy
- local edema in paresis of the facial nerve
- edema in venous insufficiency in the lower extremities
Contraindications:
- venous thrombosis
- heart failure
- malignancies in the treatment phase
- pregnancy
